Course Prerequisites

To gain the most from the class:

• Attendees should be comfortable with basic HTML prior to taking this course.

Software Needed on Each Student Computer

• Internet Explorer 6 or higher
• Firefox 2 or higher
• XAMPP Apache distribution containing MySQL and PHP
• Web page or text editor students will be using after the class

Course Objectives

• How to download and install PHP and MySQL
• Using PHP to respond to HTML form submissions
• Sending e-mail messages with PHP
• How to query MySQL databases and output content to PHP pages
• Creating a simple content management system so you can add, update, and delete information from a MySQL database
• Managing state information with cookies and sessions
