Mary Gillen is a writer, web developer, marketer and technical trainer who has owned her own business since 1981. She has over 28 years experience in freelance commercial/technical copywriting, graphics design, online marketing, Web development and technical instruction development/presentation. Mary's experience enables her to help clients merge marketing with technology for business success.
Mary has been an active Web developer and marketer since 1995. She is the co-developer of Idea Site for Business, http://www.ideasiteforbusiness.com, a site dedicated to providing useful ideas for creative business people. The site was mentioned in Microsoft Corporation's TV series "America At Work: A Roadmap To The Internet", and has been highlighted in such publications as The LA Times, Newsweek's E-Life, Entrepreneur Magazine, Investor's Business Daily, and many others.
In March 2006, Mary launched a blog called Learn One Thing http://learnonething.com, a blog hosting how-to ideas & tips on copywriting, email marketing, sales, web tech, desktop publishing, SEO, RSS feeds, podcasting, blogging for business and more.
Mary has developed public and private Web sites with accompanying content management system frameworks designed to accommodate search engine optimization techniques for such organizations as National Institutes of Health, The World Bank, International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Cancer Research Foundation of America, McKinsey & Company and many others.
She is also an experienced technical instructor who has taught over 8,000 individuals across the U.S. since 1995 via classroom and online instruction environments. Mary instructs XML, XSLT, SQL, JavaScript, ColdFusion, PHP, AJAX, Writing for the Web, e-commerce, Web/Email Marketing, WordPress, Search Engine Optimization and Using Social Media for Online Marketing courses.
